For an out-of-the-way touristy location, Flåm has quite the selection of free attractions, especially in expensive Norway.

Check out the Railway Museum, which is free to enter and tells some of the story of this historic railway.

You can also visit the Aurland Shoe Factory, and the Fretheim Cultural Park nearby, which has interesting sculptures and great scenery.

Like anywhere in Norway, the food options around Flåm are expensive, but there is a supermarket – beware – a simple packet of Paprika chips (a local specialty) can cost around $8 at supermarket prices! While you’re in Norway, make sure to check out the snacks we mention in our Norsk Snack video, and our Bergen and Oslo guides.
